Gift
Aid (from April 2008)
Tax paid
on any
donation that you make can be recovered by charities at basic
rate if you confirm in writing
-
that this donation and any further ones
should be treated as a Gift Aid donation.
-
your name including forenames and title
and address with postcode.
-
that you are a taxpayer. N.B.
You must pay an amount of income tax or capital gains tax
equal to the amount we reclaim on your donations. (25p for
every £1 you give)
This will add 25% to the value of your
gift.
e.g. a £10 gift is worth £12.50 to your favourite charity -
at no cost to you!

Benefits to higher-rate
taxpayers
If you pay tax at the higher rate, you can
reclaim the tax relief on the grossed up amount of your donation
at 20% (eg the difference between the higher rate of tax at 40%
and the basic rate at 20%).
e.g. If you give £100 we can reclaim an extra £25.00 for
the charity and you can reclaim another £25.00. As a result, a £100
gift worth £125.00 to The Kambia Appeal only costs you £75.00.
