Ideas for Schools
Treasure Hunt- Children ask their
families to donate goods for a hunt that could be hidden
in their house, garden or local park. Teachers could
help children draw a map of their chosen treasure trail
with 'X' marking the spot of buried treasure.
Alternatively, the teacher could get the class to think
up clues that would be hidden at various points to guide
the treasure seekers to the ultimate treasure chest.
Car Wash - Children could offer
to wash cars for their family and neighbours in return
for a small fee. Parents could help by supplying the car
washing materials. Teachers could offer their cars for a
soaping during lunch break.
Non-uniform day - Arrange a day
for all the children in your class to come to school in
their own clothes. Each child pays a small fee for the
privilege.
Fill a Smartie Tube with coins - A
'Smartie' tube holds 11 pound coins. Children could ask
Mum, Dad, family and friends to help them fill their
smartie tube in return for completing various chores
such as making the bed or tidying their room.
Penalty shoot-outs - ask friends
and family to sponsor you for every goal you score.
Cream Tea - Involve the
local community in your school activities by organising
a cream tea at the school for local parents or local
pensioners one afternoon and charge a small entrance
fee. Parents can help children to make home made scones
and donate jam and cream.
Puppet Show or Christmas Play - Put
on a puppet show or school Christmas Play and charge
families a small fee to come and watch their little star
performers.
Sponsored Swim/Run/Walk etc. -
Organise a class sponsored sporting activity or have an
afternoon dedicated to a sponsored sporting tournament
between classes.
Bring and Buy Sale - Parents sort
out old clothes and bric-a-brac for a table top sale
within the school.
Coin Trail - Ask children to
collect loose change from their families each week and
organise a coin trail. Tell people that paper money
can also be converted into coins!
Guessing the amount in the jar -
At the Christmas Fair, fill a jar with sweets. People
pay to guess how many sweets there are. The closest to
the correct answer wins the treat.
Carol Singing - Organise a class
Carol Concert in the neighbouring area or in a local
shopping centre. Take a collection bucket along. |
