Dr Leddy and team runs the Belfast Marathon for Kambia!

Posted by Katie in General on 15 March 2016

Dr Christopher Leddy is running the Belfast Marathon on May 2nd 2016 to raise funds for the Kambia Appeal, but he isn’t doing it alone!  Hear more from Christopher below about his teams effort to raise money for Kambia, and how you can donate:

“The Kerr-Leddy contingent will be dragging their heels through the streets of Belfast for an extended period of time, to raise funds for the Kambia Appeal, but we need your help!

The Kambia Appeal has been working in the Kambia district of Sierra Leone since 1992, with a focus on improving maternal and child health. As most of you will be aware, Sierra Leone was significantly impacted by the recent outbreak of the ebola virus, and a very under-resourced and stretched health care system, was pushed even further. Child mortality and maternal outcomes remain poor and there is much work to be done, however Sierra Leone remains one of the worlds poorest countries. Lets try and raise some coin to help contribute to the valuable work of the Kambia Appeal.

I (Christopher) will be running the full 44km of the Belfast Marathon but I won’t be alone. The Kambia Relay team will be making their marathon debut and we are very excited about their participation. Although this will be their first team effort, with a total of 213 years between them, we are confident they will post a competitive time. So please support  the efforts of Richard Kerr-Wilson, Joanne Kerr-Wilson, Catriona Kerr-Leddy, Jonathan and Gareth Leddy as well.

Thanks in Advance!
