Golfers Tee Off To Raise
Cash For Kambia Doctor
 |
A
Golf day raised £7,000 for the Kambia Hospital
Appeal. The money will be used to train medical
personnel
to care for patients in the town in Sierra Leone.
More than 120 golfers descended on the Cotswold
Hills Golf Club for the charity day.
Organiser John Kloer said it was a fantastic day.
He said: "It was perfect golfing weather -
there was hardly any wind. Everyone really enjoyed
themselves and gave generously to a good cause.
It's really important the area gets another
doctor. At the moment there's one doctor for
200,000 people."

The money raised was enough to train medical personnel in the country's capital Freetown. The charity now
hopes to raise money to train a midwife and nurse for the
centre.
Mr Kloer said: "This is an
ongoing project. The idea is to encourage people in Sierra
Leone to help themselves."
The charity was launched 12 years ago.
