Hospital is back by Lib Dems
Liberal Democrat candidate Martin
Horwood has thrown his support behind the Kambia Hospital
Appeal. Mr Horwood met founder Richard Kerr-Wilson to
discuss the campaign. Members lobby the EU for money for a
water supply.
Graham Watson, South West Lib Dem MEP and leader of the
Liberals in Europe promised to take the case to the
European Parliament.
The Kambia Hospital Appeal was launched in Cheltenham 13
years ago to provide drugs and medical equipment for the
hospital in Sierra Leone.
It helped rebuild the hospital, with EU backing, after it
was destroyed during the country's bloody civil war in
1999.
Mr Horwood said: "The Kambia Hospital Appeal is a
fantastic local initiative and it deserves support."
Mr Kerr-Wilson, consultant obstetrician gynaecologist at
Cheltenham General Hospital, said: "All the support
we've had from the Lib Dems is great. There's a lot we
couldn't have done without them."
