Parachuting for Kambia Hospital Appeal

June 2004: Caroline Gardner parachuted to raise money for the Appeal...

Cheltenham solicitor Caroline Gardner has raised £1,100 with a daring charity stunt. The 32-year-old, who works for Rickerbys in Wellington Street, took part in a parachute jump to raise money for the
Kambia Hospital Appeal.

The Cheltenham charity is equipping a new hospital in Sierra Leone. And the money will go towards a new £6,000 ultrasound machine for the hospital.

Caroline, who did the jump at the Duke of Gloucester Barracks in South Cerney, said: "I was very nervous but it was the most amazing experience. While I was going up in the plane, all I could think about was the money I
was raising for the hospital. It helped me keep my nerve."

Spokesman for the KHA James Dowling said: "Caroline's one of our most recent recruits to the Kambia Committee and has shown her true support by jumping out of a plane to raise money. She's determined to help Kambia. It's an example of what people in Cheltenham are prepared to do for our appeal."
