Kadiatu Kamara has lived in Kambia Town for the last 35years. She moved here from Bo to live with her husband’s family once they were married. Her husband Brima died during the civil war, so she is now the head of the family, living with her two sons and their wives, her daughter and her three grand children. They live in a house behind the main road to Kambia Hospital. “Kambia is a good place to live. I have been here so long that it is home. I am here with my children and together we look after each other. Although life is hard as a widow, we manage. My youngest grand daughter was born last year at the hospital, so we did not have far to go to have the help of the doctors”.
