Moses is our main man in Kambia. He is our Project Manager in charge of our activity in Sierra Leone, overseeing all our projects and the Kambia Appeal base. He has been with us in this role since 2006. Born in the city of Makeni, south of Kambia, he then grew up in Kambia and attended Kolenten Secondary School. As a maths teacher, he taught in Freetown and later back in Kambia, becoming Principal of Kolenten School between 2002 to 2005. Moses has recently completed a masters degree in Sustainable Development at the University of Makeni.
“What can be more sustainable than training local personnel”, he says of Kambia Appeal teaching programmes. “This is the most long-lasting way of helping the people of Kambia. We have many problems here that are our inheritance from the civil war. Our job is now to move forward with improving the health care that is available in Kambia and to strengthen the capabilities of the local health staff. We have proved ourselves suitable in this task by forming a lasting partnership between the UK and Kambia; our Kambia Appeal training has contributed to reducing the maternal mortality rate in the district significantly. And this is due to the dedication of everyone involved in The Kambia Appeal – the medics, the supporters and the donors.”
