Trustees

Richard was a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist working for the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust until he retired in April 2011. He is a founding trustee of the Kambia Appeal since 1992, working in partnership with Kambia Hospital in Sierra Leone. In the past he has worked in the United States and briefly in Nepal, as well as lecturing and examining in Hong Kong, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, South Africa and Sudan.

Terry obtained a Degree in Physics at Oxford before commencing a career in public sector finance. Terry qualified as an accountant with the Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy (CIPFA).
Terry worked in NHS Finance for 20 years, including 12 years as a Director of Finance. This latter period saw both the merger of countywide acute services to form Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust and that organisation subsequently becoming one of the first in the country to achieve NHS Foundation Trust status. In his last year before retirement he was responsible for a budget of c£430m. Terry became Treasurer of the Kambia Appeal in June 2010.

David has retired from his post as a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist in Gloucestershire NHS Foundation Trust. He has been involved with the Kambia Appeal since its inception as a mentor, course organiser and speaker/fund raiser. He has significant “in country" experience having worked as an obstetrician and gynaecologist in Kambia Hospital, and as a reproductive health advisor for Save the Children in the Kerrytown Ebola Treatment Centre during the Ebola crisis.

Shona worked for a UK Charitable Trust, which at the time was the 10th largest corporate donor in the UK. She was responsible for fund raising as well as the payment of grants to both national and international charities. Shona has been fortunate to visit Kambia on several occasions since she has been involved with the charity.

Miles has been a consultant paediatrician at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital since 2003, having trained in the UK and Australia.
Prior to becoming a consultant he had worked and taught as a medical student in central Africa and the South Pacific, and gone on to spend some time working for a charity in the Caribbean. He has been fortunate to visit Sierra Leone four times since 2014, initially delivering neonatal and paediatric teaching with the Kambia Appeal, and more recently developing and delivering a paediatric refresher teaching programme for nurses, CMOs and doctors working in Kambia for the EBOVAC Ebola vaccine trial programme in 2019 and 2020.

Lottie has been a consultant oncoplastic breast surgeon at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since November 2021. Earlier on in her career and whilst a general surgery registrar at the trust, she was able to visit Sierra Leone in 2011 for 2 weeks as a member of the teaching faculty and taught basic surgical skills.
As a mother of four children, she is delighted to be a trustee of the charity and help improve maternal and child health in the Kambia District.

I have 44years work experience – 19 years as project Manager for the Kambia Appeal,. 7 years as Senior Teacher and 15 years as Principal of Tomlinson High School. Songo – Port Loko District and 3 years as lecturer at Port LokoTeachers College, Port Loko.

Assistant Kambia Appeal Rep.
I am a native of Port Loko in north western Sierra Leone with a B.Sc. Honoursdegree in Applied Geophysics and a M.SC. degree in Groundwater and Foundation Engineering in the former Soviet Union and Tuebingen in former West Germany respectively. I have been working in the development sector for over 30 years in all the 4 regions of Sierra Leone - working with CBOs, National NGOs as well as International NGOs including CAP, Catholic Mission, Plan SL, EU/SLRRP, EU Rural Water Supply Project, Baptist Convention Mission, CCSLP, UNICEF, WFP, etc in various ranks and retiring as Country Director for CAUSE - CANADA, a position I held for 10 years.
I come to the Kambia Appeal with over 30 years of experience in community development work in the Education, Health, Disability and Rural infra-structure construction sectors. I look forward to providing technical and professional support in the following areas: Community needs assessment, project formulation, proposal design and writing, Budgeting and financial management, community engagement strategies, management of projects implementation, project staff capacity building and reporting and construction and rehabilitation of health, Education and community structures especially schools, PHUs, water wells and toilets.
