Our Vision, Mission & Values

Our Vision

Healthy Women and Healthy Children in Sierra Leone, through stronger local health systems.

A dirt street in a poor neighborhood with people walking and talking. Some are carrying bags, and a woman is balancing a large green bundle on her head. There are makeshift houses made of corrugated metal, a small canal filled with water and garbage, and utility poles with wires. The sky is clear and blue.

Our Mission

We collaborate with the Kambia Community Based Organisation (KCBO) and the Kambia District Health Management Team (KDHMT) to strengthen the capacity of the Sierra Leone health system via staff training and development and system support.

  • Our partnership with KCBO and the KDHMT focuses on improving maternal and child health in Sierra Leone with the aim of reducing maternal and child mortality and morbidity in Sierra Leone

  • With our partners we aim to empower, train and develop local health workers to deliver international standards of maternal and child healthcare in Sierra Leone

  • We jointly develop, and share, knowledge and skills in achieving health and wellbeing.

Our Values

How we make decisions and hold each other to account.

Equity and fairness

A commitment to a level playing field, between the UK and Sierra Leone, in International standards of maternal and child health.

Collaboration and partnership

Achieving goals through strong, quality partnerships in both countries. UK and Sierra Leone.

Community focus

Strengthening local support and building a visible presence in Gloucestershire.

Capacity building

Developing health systems through staff training and development that can be replicated across Sierra Leone.

Contextual relevance

Designing programmes that fit the realities of Sierra Leone.

Transparency and accountability

Being open and responsible in all financial activities.

We work in close collaboration with the Sierra Leone Ministry of Health and Sanitation through our local partners in Kambia – the Kambia District Health Management Team (KDHMT) and the Kambia Community Based Organisation (CBO). Our agenda is set by local needs as prioritised in the Sierra Leone National Health Sector Strategic Plans and the Kambia District Development Plans and through regular consultations with partners in Sierra Leone. Our work is in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals 3 and 5 to reduce maternal and child mortality and to ensure a gender equality in accessing health care.
